At the September 11th School Board Meeting, Mr. James (Jay) Hamilton was sworn in as a new School Board Member. Mr. Hamilton replaces Mrs. Denise Bidwell and will serve the residents of Region III (Blain Borough, Jackson Township, Northeast Madison Township, Southwest Madison Township, Toboyne 1st and 2nd Township, Tyrone Township).
Mr. Hamilton wanted to share the following with the West Perry Community:
I am 24 years old and have lived in Perry County my entire life (WP since I was 5). Growing up, I was involved in the Landisburg/Loysville Youth Soccer League and earned the Eagle Scout award at 18. After high school graduation, I attended HACC, Central Pennsylvania Diesel Institute in Liverpool, and started my career at Rohrer Bus in Duncannon. I have worked with multiple districts in central PA for my job, and being a board member felt like the perfect opportunity for me to help in the West Perry School District.
Community is important to me, and I feel that any chance you have to be able to do good in your local community, you should take it. I look forward to serving everyone in the district as we can continue to grow and evolve in our efforts to give students the tools to earn a valuable education and have the parents feel proud to be a part of that education.
I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the West Perry School District and its students.
