West Perry FFA members participated in the Perry County Fair last month from August 15th through August 20th, 2022. The following members showed livestock projects at the fair. Gavin Neff entered two market hogs where one hog placed second in its type class, and the other hog placed fifth in its type class. Julie Loy showed two market goats where one goat placed first in its type class, and the other goat placed third in its type class. Rylee Fuller also showed market goats, where both goats won first in their type class. She also won the FFA rate of gain with her wethers. Vera Innerst also showed two market goats where one goat placed fourth in its class, and the other goat won class champion in its weight division.
Two members competed in the rabbit show. Gavin Neff showed a French Lop rabbit where he earned Best of Breed. Autumn Albright showed multiple rabbits. Her two New Zealands won Best of Breed, Best Opposite of Breed, and also best overall of the 6 classes. She also entered rabbits in the Champagne D'Argent class, which earned the honors of Best of Breed and Best Opposite of Breed as well. Albright also showed Dairy cattle, where her red and white spring yearling calf won second in class, and her red and white spring calf won first in class. Albright showed a Jr. two-year-old Holstein, which won first in class.
Ethan Seidel and Gavin Neff also competed in the youth tractor driving event, where Seidel placed first and Neff placed third. They will advance to the Cumberland, Perry, and Dauphin Area competition later this month. The following FFA members participated in the stockman's contest. In the senior division, Rylee Fuller placed first, Julie Loy third, Vera Innerst fourth, and G. Neff Seventh. In the intermediate division, Sadie Innerst placed fourth, and Olivia Neff placed fifth. The overall winner of the contest was Fuller. The West Perry FFA Chapter also entered a window exhibit in the Perry County Fair titled "The Invasion of the Spotted Lanternfly," for which they received second place.
