West Perry Virtual Academy

West Perry Virtual Academy

Online Learning

West Perry School District offers a virtual learning option for selected students in grades 6-12. Demonstrated success in virtual learning is required for continuation in the program. Course offerings align with face-to-face options and earn credit hours that count toward graduation. For grades 6-8, course offerings are limited to core subject areas. All students enrolling in the West Perry Virtual Academy must be approved by their building principal.

WPVA is considered Asynchronous learning. Asynchronous learning describes forms of learning that do not occur in the same place or at the same time. Students communicate via email or other electronic communication with their assigned teachers. There are no zoom courses. Students can talk to their teachers via office hours.

Because of the way West Perry Virtual Academy is structured, the program is not for everybody. Students who want to enroll in WPVA must be self-sufficient, independent learners, and have demonstrated strong time management skills because our online program is student-driven. Students will learn on their schedule within a prescribed timeframe.

Parents of Middle School Students should contact the Middle School Principal for application information.

Parents of High School students should contact the student's assigned school counselor for application information. Filling out a West Perry Virtual Academy application does not guarantee approval or enrollment in online courses. Please speak with your counselor or grade-level administrator for more information.

Factors that determine a student's acceptance include: reason for request, in-person attendance, historical course failures, GPA, demonstration of skills needed for success, Smarter Measure Assessments, and other measures. Enrollments are limited and reserved for higher grade-levels first and foremost.
