Proposed Closing of Blain Elementary School

The School Board held a hearing on August 3 at 7:00 pm to review all relevant matters relating to the proposed permanent closing of Blain Elementary School, currently located at 132 Blain Rd, Blain, PA 17006. Section 780 of the Pennsylvania Public School Code requires that the school board hold a public hearing prior to the permanent closing of a public school building. The purpose of the hearing was to discuss the reasons for the proposed closure of the school, the alternatives considered, and to take public comment on the same. This public hearing was being held pursuant to the requirements of the Pennsylvania School Code.  

Anyone who was unable to attend the hearing may provide written comments by submitting them to Cory Hoffman, Board Secretary via email (choffman@westperry.org) or certified mail until September 3.  

Section 780 requires a three-month waiting period between the hearing and any Board action, so no official action will be taken on the proposal until after November 2, 2026.
