WPMS Student Earns State Recognition for 3D-Printed Chess Set Design

Jude Weibley, a student at WPMS, secured third place at the state competition on May 21 with an original design for a 3D-printed travel chess set. The achievement came after his design won first place in the regional competition and earned the opportunity to advance to the state level.
The PA Media and Design Competition is an annual statewide event in Pennsylvania that showcases the digital skills, creativity, and technical knowledge of students from grades 3–12. The competition provides a platform for students to demonstrate their abilities in various technology and design fields, encouraging innovation and practical application of digital tools.
Students can compete in the following categories:
- 3D Design
- Animation
- Digital Movie (with recent emphasis on PSA format)
- Logo and Graphic Design
- Programming
- Web Page Design
