West Perry School District Dismissals Impact Local Traffic

The West Perry Middle School will be changing its dismissal time beginning with the 2019-20 school year.  Starting on August 27, the Middle School will dismiss at 2:45 PM.  Buses will exit the Middle School traveling east on Route 274 to the High School to pick up students.  Due to the change, traffic will be stopped on Route 274 East and West at 2:50 PM to allow buses to enter the roadway safely.

Once High School students have boarded, buses will depart onto Route 274 East and West at 3:06 PM.  Traffic will again be stopped to allow the buses to safely enter the roadway.

“Traffic will only be stopped for a few minutes,” said Renee LeDonne, Principal of West Perry Middle School.  “Even though this is a school zone with a 15 MPH speed limit, we feel it is in the best interests of our students and the public safety to stop traffic so that buses can systematically and efficiently transport students.  We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation.”

The traffic stoppage will be in effect whenever school is in session.
