2017-2018 CAIU Guest Teacher Program
The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) will be hosting a Guest Teacher Training Wednesday, July 26 – Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Upon completion of the course, Guest Teachers will be able to apply for an emergency permit through the PA Department of Education, which will allow them to be a substitute teacher in the schools and/or districts the CAIU serves. This is a great opportunity to discover if teaching is right for you!
Registration is open from March 1 – July 6,
2017 or until full. Space is limited to 80 participants.
Note: The Guest Teacher Training is designed for those who would like to substitute in more than one/several districts. If you are interested in only subbing in one particular school/district, please check with that school/district to determine what its specific requirements are for being a substitute.
If you are unable to attend on these dates, another Guest Teacher Training is tentatively scheduled for October 19-20, 2017. Registration information will be available at the end of August – please continue to check this webpage for additional information.
To qualify as a Guest Teacher, participants must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and be able to work in a PA public school (see PDE Form 6004 for list of exclusions). Participants must be able to be present and complete both days of training in order to obtain an emergency permit.
